THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA
USS ARIZONA MEMORIAL UNION
TUCSON, ARIZONA USA
How to participate...
1) Special Sessions: Organize/propose your own topical session of six papers or five papers plus a discussant. Session organizers are responsible for negotating participation of discussants, should they wish to include one. Each paper should be crafted with a 25-minute presentation in mind. Sessions may cover issues related to a particular region, problem, methodology, or technique. Both students and professionals should be represented as authors. The target deadline for proposals was May 15, 2006 but the organizing committee continued to accept submissions through June 20, 2006.

2) Submit as an Individual: Contribute a paper, poster, or computer simulation. Abstracts for individual contributions are limited to 250 words. The target deadline for submissions was June 1, 2006. Given that many people are in the field, the organizers will continue to accept additional submissions through June 20, 2006. Authors will be notificed of their acceptance by email by July 1, 2006.
Individual papers should be written for a 25-minute presentation and will be organized into "General Sessions" with other works of like theme, regional focus, or methodology. ASAS organizers will nominate a discussant for each general session. Authors will be asked to turn in a copy of their paper (to ASAS headquarters) by September 1, 2006 so that discussants have time to prepare their comments.
Individual posters will be displayed in conference venues throughout the event. Contributors are asked to be present at a viewing session on Friday afternoon, September 15, 2006 to answer questions and receive comments. Posters should be no larger than 8 feet x 4 feet. Mounting boards and easels will be provided.
Computer Simulation Stations: For the first time this year, ASAS offers researchers an opportunity to set up Simulation Stations that will showcase works with agent-based modelling, computer reconstructions, visualizations, or simulations of ancient events. With this option, presenters should bring their own laptops, which will be attached to separate LCD projectors and screens. During the three-hour session, attendees will circulate from station to station while presenters run permutations of their simulations, field questions, and respond to critiques. If you are a modeller, this is a great opportunity to receive concentrated, directed feedback on your work. Please prepare a handout about your model to share will attendees.

Online Publication: As in 2004, we will provide authors the opportunity to post their finished papers (and posters this year) through the conference website. Participation will be completely voluntary. We encourage session organizers and individual presenters to pursue peer-reviewed publication of their works outside the symposium.
